The 3 Days

What You'll Learn

9 hours of live instruction designed to give you a complete blueprint for building an analytics program at your school.

1

The Analytics Mindset

Monday - 10am - 1pm ET

Before you write a single line of code, you need to understand how analytics actually works in sports. What questions matter? What data can you realistically collect? How do you get coaches to listen?

What Pro Teams Actually Do

The real workflow inside MLB, NBA, and college programs. What works, what doesn't.

Asking the Right Questions

How to figure out what your coach actually needs, not what you think is cool.

High School Realities

Working with limited data, no budget, and coaches who've never used analytics.

Data You Can Actually Get

What to track, how to collect it, and setting up systems that scale.

Walk Away With

A clear understanding of what analytics can (and can't) do at the HS level, plus a list of 3-5 specific questions your coach would want answered.

2

Building Real Tools

Tuesday - 10am - 1pm ET

Time to build. We'll create the core deliverables every analytics program needs: postgame reports, scouting breakdowns, and visualizations that coaches will actually look at.

Automated Postgame Reports

Build a system that generates clean PDF reports from your game data automatically.

Opponent Scouting Systems

Templates for breaking down opponents: tendencies, weaknesses, key matchups.

Visualizations That Work

Shot charts, spray charts, and graphics coaches can understand in 10 seconds.

AI-Assisted Development

Using Claude to prototype apps, debug code, and accelerate your workflow.

Walk Away With

Working templates for postgame reports and scouting breakdowns, plus the skills to customize them for any sport.

3

Storytelling and Communication

Wednesday - 10am - 1pm ET

The hardest part of analytics isn't the math. It's getting people to listen. Learn to present insights in ways that drive decisions, whether you're talking to a coach or a college scout.

Speaking Coach Language

Translating data into actionable recommendations without jargon or confusion.

Presenting to Decision-Makers

Structure, pacing, and delivery. How to run a 5-minute analytics meeting.

Building Your Portfolio

Rebuild your best work with public data for GitHub and college applications.

What Actually Matters

Separating signal from noise. The 20% of metrics that drive 80% of decisions.

Walk Away With

A complete plan for your school's analytics program, a public GitHub portfolio, and the communication skills to make it all work.

Employer-Quality Deliverables

What You'll Walk Away With

Not toy examples. Real tools your coach will actually use, plus work that stands out on college applications.

A Complete Program Blueprint

A step-by-step plan for building analytics into your team: what to track, what to deliver, and how to get buy-in from coaches.

Strategy Workflows Templates

Coach Communication Skills

The ability to present insights without jargon. Speak the language of coaches and scouts. The skill that separates good analysts from great ones.

Storytelling Presentations Buy-In

Working Report Templates

Postgame reports. Scouting breakdowns. Visualizations. Ready to customize for your sport and hand to your coach after every game.

R Markdown ggplot2 PDF Export

A Public GitHub Portfolio

Your best work rebuilt with public data, shareable with colleges and employers. Way better than "I like sports and math" on applications.

Questions?

Frequently Asked

Do I need to know how to code?
No. You'll complete 20 hours of prework before Day 1 that teaches you the fundamentals. By the time we start, you'll be ready. Zero prior experience required.
What sports are covered?
Any sport. The framework is sport-agnostic. We teach concepts that apply to basketball, baseball, football, soccer, hockey, and more. You'll customize for your specific team.
What if I'm not on a team?
No problem. You can build tools for a team you follow, analyze public data, or create a portfolio project around any sport. The skills transfer to any context.
Will this help with college applications?
Absolutely. You'll have a GitHub portfolio to link, a unique extracurricular to discuss, and concrete projects to describe. Way better than "I like sports and math."
What if I miss a session?
All sessions are recorded. You'll have access to catch up. But live attendance is strongly encouraged. That's where the magic happens.
What software do I need?
Just a laptop. R, RStudio, and GitHub are all free to download. We'll walk you through installation in the prework. No paid subscriptions required.
