Live Session Infrastructure

Your Audience Came to Code.
Not Watch You Code.

Turn any conference talk, short course, or workshop into a live coding session. Attendees scan a QR code, get a cloud IDE, and code along in real time. Every session auto-renders into a permanent, async-ready replay.

1 Speaker submits code
2 QR code goes on screen
3 Attendees code along live
4 Session archived forever

How It Works

From Stage to IDE in 30 Seconds

No installs. No logins. No "can everyone see my screen?" Just a QR code and a cloud environment.

1

Speaker Submits Code

Upload your scripts, notebooks, or Quarto docs before the session. We render them into a live course shell.

2

QR Code Goes Up

Display the QR code or share the link. Attendees scan and instantly land in a branded session page with instructions, code, and their own cloud IDE.

3

Audience Codes Along

Every attendee gets their own Positron environment. Run the speaker's code, tweak parameters, experiment. No local installs required.

4

Session Archived

The talk, code, course notes, and environment auto-render into a permanent session. Attendees revisit it anytime. Absentees catch up async.

Built For

Speakers. Organizers. Sponsors.

Three different buyers, one platform. Whether you're teaching a 2-hour short course, running a 3-day conference, or sponsoring a keynote.

Speakers & Instructors

Your Short Course Deserves Better Than a Zip File

You spent weeks building a workshop. Attendees download a zip, fight with package conflicts, and half the room is stuck on install issues by slide 3. Put your content on our platform instead.

  • Attendees code in a pre-configured cloud IDE
  • Your course notes render alongside the code
  • Livestream your Positron environment to the room
  • Session auto-archives for async follow-up
  • Attendees keep access after the conference
Conference Organizers

Make Your Conference the One People Actually Remember

Most conference attendees forget 80% of what they saw by the following week. Give them a permanent library of every session, with executable code, that they can revisit all year.

  • Every talk archived with code + notes
  • Branded conference portal for attendees
  • Justify higher ticket prices with persistent value
  • Sell async-only tickets for remote attendees
  • Usage analytics across sessions

Your Sponsorship Should Do More Than Put a Logo on a Lanyard

Sponsor a branded coding session at your next conference. Attendees interact with your tools, your data, and your team in a real environment. That's lead gen that actually works.

  • Branded session environment with your logo
  • Showcase your product with live code, not slides
  • Capture opt-in attendee interest
  • Your resources live on in the session library
  • Link to your site, docs, or free trial from the session

Platform Capabilities

Everything a Conference Stage Can't Do

The talk ends. The value doesn't.

Positron Cloud IDE

Every attendee gets their own Positron environment with R, Python, and Stan pre-configured. No installs. No compatibility issues. Works on any device with a browser.

Live Environment Streaming

Livestream your Positron environment to the audience while they follow along in their own. They see what you're doing and do it themselves simultaneously.

Rendered Course Notes

Quarto documents, R Markdown, Jupyter notebooks. Your materials render into polished, navigable course content alongside executable code blocks.

Permanent Session Library

Every session auto-archives with code, notes, and environment URLs. Attendees revisit months later. Absentees catch up async. The content compounds year over year.

QR Code Instant Access

Generate a QR code for any session. Attendees scan from their seat and land directly in the branded session page. No app download, no account creation friction.

Analytics Dashboard

See how many attendees joined, how long they stayed, which code blocks they ran, and which sessions drove the most engagement. Real data on your conference ROI.

What This Looks Like at Real Events

Short Course at posit::conf

"Introduction to Bayesian Modeling with Stan"

Speaker uploads Stan scripts and Quarto notes the week before. On the day, 40 attendees scan a QR code and land in a pre-configured Positron environment with Stan already installed. They code along live for 3 hours. Afterward, the entire session is archived. Attendees who couldn't get a seat access it async the next day. The conference sells 50 "virtual short course" tickets at $100 each to remote attendees.

Corporate Workshop at SABR Analytics

"Building Scouting Models with Our API"

A sports data company sponsors a 90-minute hands-on session. Their logo is on the session page. Attendees use the company's API inside a live Positron environment to build a player valuation model. The session page includes a link to the company's free trial and a resource library that lives on after the conference. 120 attendees opt in. That's 120 qualified leads who've already used the product.

Conference-Wide Session Library

The organizing committee licenses the platform for the entire event. Every speaker uploads code. Every talk gets a QR code. By the end of the conference, attendees have a searchable library of 50+ sessions with executable code they can revisit all year. The conference sells "library access" as a standalone product for people who couldn't attend in person.

Internal Company Training Day

"Q3 Analytics Upskill Sprint"

A company runs a one-day internal training event. Three instructors each run 90-minute workshops on different topics. Every session archives into a permanent internal training library. New hires onboard with it six months later. The company didn't just run a training day. They built a reusable asset.

Pricing

Platform License + Cloud Compute

Two components: a flat platform fee for session infrastructure (pages, QR codes, course notes, archives), and cloud IDE access for attendees scoped separately based on event size and duration. Both are discussed on the scoping call.

Single Session
Speaker License
One session for one talk or short course. Branded page, QR code, rendered course notes, permanent archive.
$500
Platform fee. Cloud IDE access scoped separately.
  • Branded session page with QR code
  • Rendered course notes + code blocks
  • Permanent session archive
  • 30-day async access post-event

Cloud IDE access (Positron on Posit Workbench) is priced per attendee based on session length and compute needs. We'll scope this on the call.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the attendee experience look like?
Attendee scans a QR code or clicks a link. They land on a branded session page with the speaker's course notes, code blocks, and a button to launch their own cloud IDE. No account creation, no software install, no friction. They're coding within 30 seconds of scanning.
What languages and tools are supported?
R, Python, and Stan out of the box via Positron on Posit Workbench. Custom package lists can be pre-installed for any session. If you need Julia, Rust, or something else, we can discuss it on a call.
How many attendees can a single session handle?
Speaker licenses support up to 50 attendees per session. Event licenses scale based on your conference size. We've designed the infrastructure to handle hundreds of simultaneous users across multiple sessions. Exact scaling is discussed on the scoping call.
Do attendees keep access after the event?
Yes. Speaker licenses include 90 days of async access to the archived session. Event licenses include extended access for all attendees and can be configured for year-round availability. The session content (code, notes, rendered materials) is always available. Cloud IDE access duration depends on the license.
Can conference organizers sell async-only tickets?
Absolutely. This is one of the most interesting revenue opportunities for organizers. Sell "virtual access" or "session library" tickets to people who can't attend in person. They get the full session library with code, notes, and their own cloud environment. You've just turned a 3-day event into a year-round product.
Can we use this for internal company events, not just public conferences?
Yes. Internal training days, hackathons, onboarding sprints, and quarterly learning events all work. The session library becomes a permanent internal training resource. Check out our Corporate Training page for more on ongoing programs.
